Senator Scott Renfroe | SB12-123

February 21, 2012

A proposal by Sen. Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley, aims to modernize the Secretary of State Online filing system to make it more user-friendly for Colorado’s businesses and consumers. Senate Bill 123, enables the Secretary of State to create a more streamlined user interface and add necessary functions.

“It is important that the state takes the steps necessary to make things easier for businesses and entrepreneurs through a more efficient internet filing system.” Said Renfroe. “Colorado’s small business owners should be focused on thriving and creating jobs – not stuck trying to file paperwork using an out-of-date system.”

As it stands now, the business filing system is missing key functions that can make the filing process cumbersome and time-consuming. If this measure is approved, the system will move to a profile based system where business owners and their representatives can easily manage their personal accounts and paperwork throughout the year.

SB 123 now moves to the Senate Appropriation Committee for approval.
